1 Chronicles 16:29

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; bring an offering and come before him. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

What does it mean to worship the Lord? Worship is not the song that we sing on a Sunday morning. It’s not how much we give to the church in the offering. It’s not how much we help with Children’s church or any of these things. These are all ways to express worship to God, in whatever capacity He has called us, and are important aspects of the church. However, none of these things are “true worship”. True worship is our hearts response to God’s holiness. It is our submission to God in life, every hour of every day. Not just on Sunday mornings. It’s making an effort every morning to begin the day hanging out with God through prayer, and reading the Bible. It’s showing the love of Christ to others always and being in debt to love.

Romans 13:8 (Love fulfills the law)

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

It’s being in a deep relationship with Christ our Savior by “picking up the cross” every morning and carrying it with us until we go to bed at night.

“Worship is to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission. (Webster’s Dictionary, 1828)

In other words, true worship is defined by the priority we place on who God is in our lives and where God is in our list of priorities. True worship is a matter of the heart expressed through a lifestyle of holiness. Here at The Vine, it is our goal to grow closer to God in a lifestyle of worship. In striving to do this, we begin to bear fruit that glorifies God and leads people to Christ. It is of the upmost importance to be at our upmost for His Highest! Worship is an essential part of the salvation we receive through Christ or Lord! True worship is what allows us to experience the fullest joy that God has promised us by being in this relationship with Him.

1 Chronicles 29:11

Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.
